When you were a child and you were living in Blackhall Parade how many people lived in your house then, in total?

Well the house we lived in then was just… there was just a drawing room and a kitchen, we just lived in that but you couldn’t use the kitchen, the kitchen was damp so we all lived up in the drawing room. So there was, what, seven of us and my mother and father living in the drawing room.

Did your grandparents ever live with you?

No.

Did they live nearby?

One of the grannies lived down in King Street, not far from us.
