Description

O'Connell Street, 1940s Interesting war-time photo of O'Connell St. as many of the interviewees would have known it. This photograph of O'Connell Street during The Emergency shows a thoroughfare almost devoid of private vehicles. There are several buses and trams, a taxi, a couple of horses and carts, and a solitary car. An air raid shelter is clearly marked.
