Description

Angle Court (Beresford Street - North King Street)This image shows some shabby, but not entirely delapidated houses. To the forefront of the picture can be seen the communal water pump and a wash tub. Drying laundry is suspended in front of the house on the right. Women and several children are gathered outside both houses, and other tenants can be seen in the upper windows. Beresford Street is close to Church Street where, on the night of 2nd September 1913, two tenement houses collapsed killing several people. The 'Church Street Disaster' was an important incident in the Tenements Debate.
