The experience of ageing cannot be fully appreciated without taking account of the ageing body. Many of the participants for the Bridge-IT project spoke about coming to terms with declining physical strength and health. What is important to acknowledge is the strategies people employ to continue living full lives in the face of difficulties or constraints induced by advancing age on their bodies.

In this extract Betty Dempsey describes feeling like her body is slowing up. She talks about negotiating this bodily experience by taking regular short breaks and taking her time to achieve particular goals or tasks.
